Q. How do I know when my child can become a member
of the club?
A. Your child will be asked to attend an assessment on
Monday evening at 18:30hrs at Taskers Pool.
The criteria for the assessment is to competently swim 25 metres on
front and 25 metres on back. If your child is successful they will continue
with the training session. There is a further three week period on trial
at the end of which your child may be invited to join the club.
-
Q. Where do you train?
A. We train in two pools:
- Tasker
Milward School pool which is located in the west of the town.
Access is from Scarrowscant lane.
- Haverfordwest
pool which can be reached by proceeding up High Street (the
hill of the main shopping area), passing the church on the right
and turning right just before the town Library. The pool, with parking,
is then located on the right.

Q. What are the Club fees?
A. Our club charges an annual membership fee. It is currently
£5.00 and should be paid within 4 weeks of joining the club (at
the end of the trial period). Each swimmer will also be enrolled as
a member of the Welsh Amateur Swimming Association - WASA.
This is mandatory and includes appropriate insurance. The annual
membership fee for WASA is as follows:
- Under 10 years of age £23
- Over 10 years of age £26
If there are more than 2 children from a family joining then the club
membership (£5) is waived for each subsequent member.
Additionally the club charges £9.00 per month. We ask that this
is paid early in the month by standing order and entitles your child
to attend all of the sessions comparable with their ability.
During any trial period the cost is £2.00 per week.
-
Q. What is the aim of Haverfordwest Swimming Club?
A. Our aim is to encourage and promote all aspects of swimming.
-
Q. How will my child progress within the club?
A.
The club is structured so that there is progression from one squad to
another based on overall performance. This may mean that your child
will be asked to attend a later training session in order to ensure
that swimmers of comparable ability train in the same lane. Later your
child may be encouraged to represent the club at a gala. These can be
held locally in Pembrokeshire or further away (eg at Llanelli). As your
child progresses she may also want to enter Open Galas, West Wales Competitions
or, ultimately the Nationals.
-
Q. Do you have a Club Constitution?
A. Yes. It is available on request.
-
Q. Can I take snapshots during a session or gala?
A. Photography on the premises is forbidden until
you have completed the appropriate consent form. Similarly, mobile phones
having the ability to take pictures are not to be used on the premises.
-
Q. Can I help on poolside?
A. The club is completely run by volunteers and any help
is gratefully accepted. However everybody who assists poolside must
be registered with WASA
and have completed a CRB check.
